Solution made to measure

The compact dosing container is a true plug & play solution: It is fully assembled at the VTA plant and transported by truck ready for use at its destination.

Truck with VTA dosing container

It is not just the VTA system products that are in a class of their own: VTA innovations also continue to set new standards in dosing and storage technology – and they are tailor-made.

The municipality of Gratkorn in the Austrian state of Styria is one of the many places where VTA reliably ensures that odour problems caused by hydrogen sulphide are not an issue. A real challenge, because the local conditions in the market town near Graz, with its paper industry and long pump lines, favour the formation of hydrogen sulphide with all of its unpleasant consequences, such as odours and corrosion.

That is now over since Gratkorn decided to eliminate the problem using one of VTA’s tried and tested “odour killers”. The approach to the problem, which was developed by VTA area manager Armin Flössholzer in cooperation with Graz University of Technology and engineering consultants IGBK Graz, proved itself very well last year. A decision was therefore taken to replace what was previously a temporary dosing system for the addition of the VTA system product with a permanent solution: a tailor-made dosing container.

Compact, clean, indestructible

The basis for this successful VTA product is a modified 20-foot container that has been specially converted for this purpose. The standardised container, approximately six metres in length, forms an indestructible shell for the latest tank, dosing and control technology. In the Gratkorn solution, the experienced specialists at VTA fitted a double-walled plastic tank including a pan, which is also suitable for hazardous materials, with a capacity of 20 m³. The tank was entirely custom-made to make optimum use of the available volume. Depending on requirements, however, multi-chamber systems can also be installed, for example for the simultaneous dosing of odour killers and precipitants.

In addition, the thermally insulated, heatable container also contains a dosing plate with a dosing point and pump, a connection pipe for easy refilling from the tanker, wash basin, lighting and, last but not least, state-of-the-art measurement and control technology. The dosing pump is electronically controlled using a H2S measuring probe.

All relevant data, including alarm messages if necessary, are automatically sent to defined key points at the operator’s premises. With overfill protection, leakage probes and numerous other details, the certified dosing container fulfils all requirements of the Austrian Water Rights Act.

After all, VTA dosing containers are not just a clean and economical solution, but are also particularly safe: The steel shell provides effective protection against damage, vandalism and weather conditions such as lightning, storms and pressure from snow.

Plug & play – everything very simple

The compact container is a true plug & play solution: It is fully assembled as a functional unit at the VTA plant in Rottenbach and transported by truck ready for use at its destination. Installation and start-up are taken care of by VTA fitters; all the customer needs to provide are a suitable foundation, a water connection (washbasin and flushing) and a power connection. There are no emissions whatsoever – only an exhaust duct for the refilling process is required. Incidentally, the exterior colour can also be chosen as required. In Gratkorn, a discreet dark green was chosen – the dosing container there is after all located in the green countryside.

VTA experts from the areas of dosing technology and technical field service work closely together on every container project. The range of services available range from on-site appraisal through design, detailed planning, production, delivery, commissioning and acceptance to comprehensive customer service.
